Institute
of Fundraising Joins Forces with EAPG to Develop Planned Giving and Major
Philanthropy
The
Institute of Fundraising (‘Institute’) and the European Association for
Planned Giving (‘EAPG’) came together March 30 to announce a strategic
partnership at the Institute’s Major Gift Fundraising Conference at the
Royal Overseas League in London. The partnership will see both
organizations utilising their respective networks and stakeholder support to
develop planned giving and major philanthropy across the UK and into Europe.
This
partnership will incorporate the following joint activity:
-
Developing specialized training and
education for charities
-
Campaigning for more favorable tax-effective
giving structures
-
Providing a stronger voice in all aspects of
planned giving
-
Building routes to market that engage
intermediaries to benefit charities
The two
organizations will share knowledge and best practices about major gift
fundraising and planned giving across their respective membership networks.
Both the Institute and EAPG will host events that provide an opportunity for
fundraisers to debate current issues as well as sharing best practice with
others in the field.
Lindsay
Boswell, Chief Executive of the Institute of Fundraising, says:
“Major
gifts is a growing area of fundraising and one that is vital to many of our
members. The Institute already plays a key role in supporting charities
involved in major donor fundraising and in working to promote planned
giving. But, this partnership with EAPG will enable us to go one step
further and, through our combined efforts, advance our guidance and extend
our reach to a broader network of fundraisers.”
Jim
Myers, Founder and Development Director of the European Association for
Planned Giving, adds:
“EAPG’s
new strategic partnership with the Institute of Fundraising represents a
tremendous opportunity to raise the profile of planned giving, not only
within the UK fundraising community but also to the larger philanthropic
community in the UK and Europe.”
