NCPG National Conference

From 1988 through 2008, the National
Conference on Planned Giving was the best place to hear
current information on the tools and techniques
traditionally considered "planned gifts." Beginning in 2009,
the National Conference on Philanthropic Planning is the
only place to consider creative approaches to integrating
all gifts into a life-long philanthropic plan. Conference
speakers from all disciplines involved in the planning
process will:
- Focus on
philanthropic strategies that synthesize the vision and
skill of donors and their families, fundraisers, and
advisors.
Understand that the most
meaningful gifts for donors and the causes they support
usually combine current and future strategies.
Envision professional
relationships and staffing policies that eliminate barriers
to cooperation between fundraising departments or between
fundraisers and advisors.
Encourage innovation--within
ethical, legal and regulatory contextsto help donors
understand and achieve their philanthropic potential.
In addition to traditional breakout
sessions, the conference will introduce several new session
formats, including:
Case Studies:
Attendees will participate in analyzing detailed cases
involving issues such as donor/client scenarios (either
before or after a gift is made), administrative challenges
and ethical dilemmas.
Research Reviews:
Attendees will be among the first to learn about original
research, and to consider how the findings affect the work
of philanthropic planners.
Labs: Working in small
groups with expert facilitators, attendees will produce
products, such as marketing plans or performance criteria
for gift planning staff.
Most speakers assume
at least a basic understanding of gift planning tools and
techniques, and many sessions are geared to senior level
planners. However, some foundational sessions are provided
for fundraisers and advisors who are just beginning to build
their expertise in philanthropic planning. The conference
will be especially beneficial for:
- Fundraisers and
development managers from all types of charitable
organizations.
- Financial and legal advisors who assist
donors with wills and trusts, investments, insurance,
retirement strategies and other plans that offer
opportunities for philanthropic giving.
- Nonprofit CEOs, CFOs and trustees who
seek to understand the role of philanthropic planning in
long-term fund development.
Conference fees have
been held at 2008 levels, and room rates at the Gaylord
National are $150 less than the typical nightly rate for
this beautiful new hotel and convention center, just minutes
from the historic and cultural attractions of Washington,
DC. |
